This story will be updated periodically throughout the evening with updates from the 2016 Northwest AAA Regional Tournament:

-- Round 2, 220 pounds -- St. Marys' DJ Salinas fell in his bout, and there were no competitors for D-9 at 285. That's a wrap for tonight! See you in the morning!

-- Round 2, 195 pounds: Clearfield's Travis Ogden won a 3-0 decision over State College's Cory Dreibelbis to advance to the semis.

-- Round 2, 182 pounds -- D-9's only representative, St. Marys' Christian Steffan, drops a 6-4 decision to Cathedral Prep's Mike Hughes.

-- Round 2, 170 pounds -- Clearfield's Luke McGonigal opens his action with an 11-1 major decision over Altoona's Parker McClellan.

-- Round 2, 160 pounds -- Kaleb Young of Punxsy joins Lambiotte in the semis with a 16-1 technical fall victory in 4:26 over State College freshman Cole Urbas; Brandon Cherry of St. Marys was pinned by Mifflin County's Trent Hidlay.

-- Round 2, 152 pounds -- DuBois junior Carson Hanna earns a tech fall victory over Carrick's Justice Jones to advance to the semis.

-- Round 2, 145 pounds -- Punxsy's Eli Lambiotte was dominant in a 15-0 technical fall decision over Carrick's Cody Kirk.

-- Round 2, 138 pounds -- St. Marys junior Garret Cook falls at the hand of Cathedral Prep's Carter Starocci in 1:05; DuBois junior Brock Adams, in his first action, earned a 5-3 decision over Hunter Hendricks.

-- Round 2, 132 pounds -- St. Marys' junior Cameron Resch falls in his first bout to McDowell's Carmen Ciotti, 12-2; Clearfield senior Josiah McClarren dropped an 8-4 decision to Cathedral Prep's TaNauz Gregory.

-- Round 2, 126 pounds -- The district's first two-wrestler category! Unfortunately, Clearfield's Hunter Blake lost 4-0 to Brett Mallory and Bradford's Tyler Thompson lost 20-6 to Altoona's Cole Manley.

-- Round 2, 120 pounds -- Another sole DuBois rep, as Kolby Ho earns a 3-1 decision over Cathedral Prep's Brandon Sauers to advance to the semis.

-- Round 2, 113 pounds -- Once again, just one D-9 representative -- DuBois' Dalton Woodrow, a freshman, advanced to the semis with a 7-1 win over Warren's Jacob Frankhouser.

-- Round 2, 106 pounds -- Tyler Dilley of St. Marys is D-9's only rep here. He defeated Mifflin County's Christian Fisher 7-4 to advance to Round 3 tomorrow.

-- Punxsy update: Arrington will receive a bye through Consolation Round 1... His opponent in Consolation Round 2 will be determined later this evening. That round is scheduled to start at 11 a.m. tomorrow.

-- 7:45 p.m. -- Round 1 is completed, and after a five-minute break, Round 2 will begin... Punxsy has Lambiotte at 145 and Young at 160;

-- Round 1, 285 pounds -- Punxsy's Gage Arrington lost via fall to Hollidaysburg junior Hunter Gill in 1:29; St. Marys senior Ray Kline lost via fall to General McLane's Jacob Lenhardt; Clearfield senior Nate Lash went to extra time before falling 3-1 to Altoona's David Hess;

-- Round 1, 220 pounds -- Clearfield's Hunter Bumbarger was pinned by Hollidaysburg's Noah Worley in 1:14; DJ Salinas, a senior from St. Marys, pinned Cary Knight of Carrick in 3:05

-- 5 p.m. -- We are underway! Four mats of action, Round 1 starts at 106 pounds... We'll keep you posted on any D-9 results as best as we can.

-- 4:20 p.m. -- The mats are coming to life, as the athletes set to participate are warming up. Forty minutes to the first group of matches.

-- 4 p.m. -- Weigh-ins are complete, and the action is one hour from beginning. Three Chucks wrestlers -- Eli Lambiotte, Kaleb Young and Gage Arrington -- will take to the mat in the opening round.

That's a wrap from Altoona folks! All D-9 competitors have concluded their bouts.

-- Finals, 195 Pounds: Clearfield senior Travis Ogden falls 6-2 against Mifflin County's Trey Hartsock, but his second-place finish sends him to States.

-- Consolation Finals, 170 Pounds: Clearfield sophomore Luke McGonigal advances with a 3-2 decision over Mifflin County's Noah Stewart

-- Finals, 160 Pounds: In what may have been the best match of the weekend, Punxsy senior Kaleb Young holds on after scoring an escape in rideouts for a 2-1 win over Mifflin County's Trent Hidlay. Young is now the Regional Champion, and both advance to States.

-- Consolation Finals, 152 Pounds: DuBois junior Carson Hanna is pinned by Dazjon Casto of Erie McDowell, giving Casto the berth to States.

-- Consolation Finals, 138 Pounds: DuBois junior Brock Adams went to extra time with Central Mountain's Colton Weaver, where Weaver earned a takedown 30 seconds in to advance.

-- Finals, 113 Pounds: DuBois freshman Dalton Woodrow scores two in the third period and holds on for a 3-2 decision to earn the Regional title over State College's Adam Stover

-- Consolation Finals -- 106 Pounds: St. Marys freshman Tyler Dilley was defeated 3-0 by Erie Cathedral Prep's Brady Sittinger

-- They're clearing the gymnasium to prepare for tonight's finals and consy finals. In addition to the three who will advance as mentioned below, four from D-9 will have a chance to advance in the third-place bouts. They include Tyler Dilley (St. Marys, 106), Brock Adams (DuBois, 138), Carson Hanna (DuBois, 152) and Luke McGonigal (Clearfield, 170).

-- Consolation semis, 220 Pounds -- St. Marys senior DJ Salinas falls to Hollidaysburg's Noah Worley

-- Consolation semis, 182 Pounds -- St. Marys junior Christian Steffan was taken down late in sudden victory by Bellefonte's Dillon Kephart, losing 3-1.

-- Consolation semis, 170 Pounds -- Clearfield sophomore Luke McGonigal earned a convincing decision over Williamsport's Torren Potts to advance to the third-place bout

-- Consolation semis, 152 Pounds -- DuBois junior Carson Hanna knocked out St. Marys senior Kyle Pecht with a 7-3 decision

-- Consolation semis, 145 Pounds -- Punxsy senior Eli Lambiotte lost a 2-0 decision to General McLane's Briggs Twitchell, ending Lambiotte's run at States.

-- Consolation semis, 138 Pounds -- DuBois junior Brock Adams advanced to the consolation finals with a 3-1 decision over Warren's Jake Engstrom

-- Consolation semis, 132 Pounds -- St. Marys junior Cameron Resch fell to Bellefonte's Aaron Witherite in an 8-2 decision

-- Consolation semis, 120 Pounds -- DuBois sophomore Kolby Ho tried to battle back against Jersey Shore's Hunter Zondory but came up short in a 6-3 decision

-- Consolation semis, 106 Pounds -- In a back-and-forth, high-scoring match, St. Marys freshman Ty Dilley defeated Titusville's Hunter Thompson 14-9 to advance to the consy finals

-- These wrestlers will go at 6 p.m. tonight for the Regional championship: Dalton Woodrow (DuBois, 113); Kaleb Young (Punxsutawney, 160); Travis Ogden (Clearfield, 195). Those three are guaranteed berths to States. The others will have to wrestle back for third to advance. Only the top three go.

Pictured here from Altoona Area High School's Fieldhouse are Punxsy wrestlers Eli Lambiotte and Kaleb Young warming up prior to this afternoon's semi-final action at the AAA 2016 Northwest Regional Championships. Lambiotte and Young will each wrestle in this round with a chance to secure a spot in the PIAA championships on the line.

Punxsy sophomore Gage Arrington was also at the tournament. He was eliminated in Consolation Round 2 this morning.

It was a quick day at the "office" for Punxsy senior Kaleb Young on Friday, as his only appointment was a PIAA Championships quarter-final bout with Pennridge's Joshua Stillings. Young pinned Stillings in 1:24 to advance to Saturday morning's semi-finals.

On Friday, Brookville had five wrestlers advance to the final day of the AA PIAA Wrestling Championships, with Tate Ortz positioning himself to battle for a state title. Saturday's edition of The Spirit includes a full recap of Brookville's day, but the other AA D-9 schools were still competing at press time, so we promised to provide those results here:

-- James Duffy, Smethport, 145 -- Duffy started off with a pair of wins, beating Somerset junior Austin Hemminger 9-5 and Kody Komara of Freedom Area 7-5, to move on to Friday night's semis. There, he faced Huntingdon junior Seth Baney and earned a 5-2 victory to advance to today's finals against South Fayette's Mike Carr.
-- Ryan Carlson, Brockway, 120 pounds -- Carlson's tournament opened with a 4-2 decision over Zach Clark, but in the quarters, he fell to Angelo Barberio of Muncy in a 1-0 decision. In the third consolation round, Carlson rebounded with a 6-0 decision, but a 2-1 loss to Lewisburg's Jordan Glessner sent Carlson for the seventh-place match today.
-- Mason Lindenmuth, Brockway, 126 -- Lindenmuth opened with a pair of wins to advance to the semis, beating Brian Earlston of Line Mountain 9-0 in the first round and Jonah Zych of Saucon Valley 8-2 in the quarters. In the semis, he took on Max Murin of Central Cambria, with Murin knocking him into the consolation bouts with a 7-1 win. In the fifth consy round, Lindenmuth lost a close, 4-3 decision to Bedford's Jonathan Gabriel to send him to the fifth-place match.
-- Ethan Budd, Port Allegany, 220 -- Budd's tournament opened with a win over West Branch's Vincent McDowell -- a pin 2:30 into the bout -- and he followed that with an 8-1 win over Thor Balavage of Scranton Prep to advance to the semis. In that round, he faced Cole Nye, a junior from Bishop McDivitt, but he fell via a a 5-4 decision before beating Rasaun Culberson of South Fayette 13-5 to advance to the third-place bout. There, he will face Gage Glaysz of Greenville.
-- Brylee Shumaker, Redbank Valley, 285 -- Shumaker's first round saw him pin Joe Kazalas of Keystone Oaks in 4:34 to advance to the quarters, where he picked up another pinfall -- this time over Wyomissing Area's Robert Dunbar in 2:36. In the semis, he faced off against Jake Beistel of Southmoreland, dropping a 5-3 decision to fall to the consy round. There, Shumaker pinned Wyalusing's Dawson Otis at the 5:51 mark of their bout to earn a spot in the third-place bout against Salisbury's Alex Nicholas.
-- Tanner Altobelli, Redbank Valley, 126 -- Altobelli earned a first-round win over Trevor Sones of Hughesville to advance to the quarters, but an 8-2 loss to Max Murin of Central Cambria sent him to the wrestlebacks. In the third consolation round, he beat Hunter Goodlin of Jamestown 11-4, and after beating Tanner McHugh of Tamaqua 5-3 in the fourth consy round, he fell to Cole Matthews of Reynolds, 4-2, to set up a fifth-place bout with Brockway's Mason Lindenmuth.
-- Shae Bloom, Curwensville, 152 -- Bloom's tournament started with a 7-0 win over Saucon Valley's Nathan Harka, but in the quarters, he lost to Burrell's Damon Greenwald, sending him to the knockout round. There, he beat Brian Shermeyer of Delone Catholic by pinning him in 4:05, and he kept it going in the fourth consolation bout, beating Jon Wagner of Huntingdon 3-1. A 3-2 loss to Nick Monico of Saegertown in the final consy round, though, sent Bloom to the fifth-place bout, where he'll face Chestnut Ridge's Morgan Deremer.
-- Zach Sintobin, Clarion, 195 -- Sintobin's tournament started in the Round of 16 with a win over Sam Crone, pinning him in 1:53, but in the quarters, he was pinned by Jefferson-Morgan's Bill Bowlen, forcing him to the consolations. There, he beat Clayton Green of West Branch 8-4 to advance, and he went on to earn a 3-1 decision over Cambridge Springs' Deven Simpson to advance. In the final consy round, he lost a 7-0 decision to Greenville's Blake Reynolds, sending him to the fifth-place bout, where he'll meet Conner Buttry of Chestnut Ridge.
District 9 wrestlers who were eliminated on Friday included:
-- Paul Zacherl, Cranberry, 160 -- Zacherl earned a 3-2 victory on the tournament's first day to advance to the quarters, but he lost that bout to Penn Cambria senior Austin Farabaugh via pinfall, and then, in his consolation round bout against South Allegheny's Cody Jenkins,he was defeated 15-5, eliminating him from the tournament.
-- Mac Tanner, Port Allegany, 160 -- Tanner fell to the consolations on Thursday via a 5-3 decision at the hand of Norhern Lehigh's Ryan Farber, but after earning a bye through Consolation Round 2, he defeated Boiling Springs senior Travis Wickard 6-5 to advance. His run came to an end in the third consolation round, though, when he lost a 3-1 decision to Susquenita sophomore Dalton Group.
-- Blake Passarelli, Curwensville, 106 -- Passarelli fell to the consolation round on Thursday, and in the second consolation round, he was pinned by Mountoursville's Wyatt Lutz.
-- Mitchell Overbeck, Brockway, 113 -- Overbeck advanced to the first round with a preliminary round win by injury default Thursday, but he lost his first-round bout, then lost a close, 3-1 decision to Penns Valley junior Darren Yearick to be eliminated Friday.
-- Dustin Jamison, Brockway, 138 -- Jamison won his preliminary round bout over Jayden Johnson of Bishop McDevitt, but he was knocked to the wrestle-backs by George Phillippi of Derry on Thursday. In Consolation Round 2 on Friday, Jamison lost a 6-3 decision to Annville-Cleona's Josh Renninger, eliminating him from the tournament.

Sun rises on a 'giant' day at Giant Center

In this picture, fans pour in to Hershey's Giant Center ahead of the AAA PIAA Wrestling Championship semi-finals. Today is a big day for those remaining in the tournament -- eight in each class at AA and AAA.

Among them are Punxsy's Kaleb Young (AAA, 160 pounds) and Brookville's Taylor Ortz (AA, 132 pounds).

Young is wrestling in the semi-finals, which are about to begin, while Ortz will wrestle this afternoon in the finals.

Young is the only Punxsy wrestler participating, while Ortz is joined by four other Raiders who will also receive medals -- Keelan Kunselman (106), Gavin Park (113), Cole Aaron (138) and Caleb Hetrick (152).

Punxsy senior Kaleb Young earned a big win by decision, 16-4, over Nick Carr of Abington Heights in the 160-pound semi-finals of the AAA PIAA Wrestling Championships in Hershey.

Young is pictured here in control of Carr. Also pictured is Trent Hidlay, Young's finals opponent. The two are familiar, as they met in the Regionals finals, where Young earned a one-point decision in rideouts.

The AAA finals start at 7 p.m. tonight.

Tate Ortz -- Brookville's 132-pound wrestler -- picked up a convincing decision in the PIAA Wrestling Championships finals at the AA level this afternoon. Ortz was joined by four other Raiders in the medal round.

AAA's championships begin at 7 p.m. tonight, with Punxsy's Kaleb Young set to go for a title at 160 pounds.
